The Idaho Technology Council hosted an excellent virtual conference, Develop.Idaho, on February 25th, 2021. This event has been running for 10 years and has grown dramatically since inception. Introductions were provided by ITC's President, Jay Larsen, and a keynote speaker and CEO of Albertsons, Vivek Shankaran.
A wide range of breakout rooms covered topics from developing corporate culture in a remote work environment to telehealth implementation, cybersecurity to project management, and predictive maintenance to data privacy. Presenters gave valuable insight into leveraging technology to keep pace with the transition to a remote workforce and ever changing business environment.
The ITC's Computing Alliance, which nurtures and develops talent throughout Idaho, provided opportunity for membership.
Idaho-based companies represented included Perkins Coie, Delta Dental, Dropbox, Hawley Troxell, Idaho Central Credit Union, St Luke's, Truckstop.com, and others.
A key takeaway is that despite the turmoil of 2020, attitudes remain positive and people seem very optimistic about the future. Technology professionals throughout Idaho continue to innovate push forward in all aspects of technology. Boise and other cities are increasing focus on technology and driving programs to grow the talent pool. New ventures are launching regularly and the trend is likely to continue as companies and their employees are leaving other states in pursuit of a better business environment and quality of life.
